Your Thymus Gland is an important part of your immune system (lymphatic system). It is most active in childhood and teen years. The hormones produced by the Thymus Gland promotes the maturation of T cells (a type of white blood cell that destroys microbes and foreign substances) and may retard the aging process. Although the number of T cells produced decreases with age, some T cells continue to proliferate in the thymus throughout an individual's lifetime.
